Fort Macon Coast Guard station to help free turtles

FORT MACON, N.C. - Media are invited to attend the release of 14 turtles back into the ocean following a discussion of the Coast Guard's cooperation with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center at Station Fort Macon, Thursday.

Who: The officer in charge and crew of Coast Guard Station Fort Macon.

What: Discussion of the the Coast Guard assisting the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center with the release of 14 turtles back into the ocean 40 miles off shore.

When: 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Where: Coast Guard Base Fort Macon, 2301 East Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512.

Due to limited space aboard the Coast Guard boat, only one camera will be permitted to go to the offshore release location.
